Flaws in our own thinking, the AI's errors, and unfair ideas in society shape each other, and can make each other worse.

DeBiasMe is a citizen science programme where learners and educators find and record the AI bias together.
Use the DeBiasMe kit yourself to discover the range of technical and ethical problems that can come up with AI.

Talk through where it came from: you, your school, or the world around you and what could change it.

Add what you found to the DeBiasMe platform, and keep noticing, analysing and reducing bias alongside others.

We work with schools, learning centres and community groups
asking how to use AI responsibly.
DeBiasMe works towards a future where every learning community gets a good education, is not discriminated against, and can reach the information it needs.
That work sits alongside UN Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

From students, teachers and volunteers who took part
Before this class I thought whatever AI said was right. Now I know it gets things wrong a lot. I'm glad I found out.
Grade 4, Wirye Haesol Primary School
A real chance to see what AI bias looks like, concretely.
Daegu Siji Primary School
I'd been worried about bias in the media, but I learned AI isn't neutral either. Children shouldn't take what it produces at face value: schools need to teach them to notice bias and think it through.
Jinhae Sinhang Primary School
AI is going to be something everyone uses, every day. Education like this matters now. I volunteered because I wanted to have a hand in students getting something genuinely useful at school.
Seoul National University
Yes. No prior knowledge or experience with AI is needed. You can follow along with the workshop and join in the recording as we go.
It's a good chance to learn about AI, too!
At the moment we run in-person workshops only.
If your group would like to take part online, send us a note through [Get involved] on this site.
If you're joining on your own, look out for online sessions! we'll announce dates as they open.
The experiences and observations you record stay open to you to look back on. They're also shared with other participants and researchers, as material for working out how to reduce AI bias.
Records contain no personal information that could identify anyone. If a record would include an institution name or year group, we'll let you know beforehand.
Sessions run 1–2 hours, and we support them free of charge.
Send us a note through the form below and we'll come back to you within two or three working days.
